Roofing is estimated in squares (100 sq ft of roof). Measure each roof plane (any unit) and add them up. If you measured the footprint from the ground, set your pitch so the area reflects the real sloped surface. Most architectural shingles are 3 bundles per square; add 10-15% for waste, starter, hips and ridges.
