Add up multiple lengths to get total linear feet, with an optional price per foot for a quick material cost.

A linear foot is simply a measurement of length—one foot in a straight line—regardless of width or thickness. Lumber, trim, fencing, countertops and many other materials are priced by the linear foot. To total a project, measure each run and add them together.
Enter feet and inches for each run above; the calculator converts inches to a decimal (12 inches = 1 foot) and sums everything. Add a price per foot to estimate material cost. Linear feet differ from board feet, which also account for thickness and width.
Use the linear feet calculator when the material is ordered by length instead of area or volume. It is useful for trim, edging, pipe, wire, boards, railing and repeated straight runs.
Start with the calculator that matches how your material is sold: area, length, volume, count, weight or electrical load. Enter one work area at a time, use the unit selector beside each measurement, then review the order quantity and cost fields before comparing supplier quotes.
Most calculators can save the current estimate in your browser, reload named estimates, print a copy, switch to dark mode or create a shareable link. Those tools are intended for planning and communication; always confirm final quantities, coverage rates, density, code requirements and pricing with the supplier or contractor responsible for the work.
